What a day, I don't usually post race results here but this was a big race and I had a stonker!

First up my planned easy relaxing day on Saturday didn't quite work out as I ended up being taken to Northampton General A&E and spent all afternoon there being poked and prodded, having blood tests, urine sample, ECG's, cannula's inserted and even a doctors finger in a place you don't want to know about.

I then ended up having to rush around all over the place and ate and got to bed later than I'd hoped. But I seemed to recover from my ordeal pretty well and put in an epic performance on Sunday in what was my first ever 'big' event - I certainly seemed to rise to the occasion and knocked 90 seconds off what I thought would be my absolute best possible time, finishing in 1:03:27.

750m Open Water Swim: 10:49
20km Undulating Bike: 32:19
5.5km flat run: 18:53

That put me in 6th place in the British Age Group Sprint Championships (40-44) and has hopefully qualified me for the ITU Age-Group World Championships in Auckland later this year - Although I'm trying not to get too excited about that until the qualification places are ratified by the BTF.

Full report and photos etc here: Big Cow Triathlon Race Report.
